Harrie Jekkers
Harrie Jekkers is a comedian and singer-songwriter from the Netherlands.
He grew up in the working class districts of The Hague, a city well known for its people with characteristic accent and down to earth humour.
He studied English at the university of Groningen and worked as a teacher for some years.
In 1978 he founded the band Klein Orkest together with Koos Meinders. In 1981 he scored a solohit "O, o, Den Haag" under the alias Harrie Klorkestein (anagram for Klein Orkest) which is sometimes seen as the anthem of The Hague.
In 1985 Klein Orkest fell apart, after which Harrie started his career as a comedian. He still writes his song texts together with Koos Meinders.
His songs and shows are about life and people with all their faces. They are often based on Harrie's experience in the working class districts of The Hague, together with its humorous way of dealing with problems. Read more on Last.fm.
